BMI Weight Chart by Height

The weight ranges where each height crosses into a different BMI category, from underweight to obese.

Weight ranges by BMI category, 4'10" to 6'4"

Ranges are in pounds. Based on the standard adult BMI thresholds (18.5 / 25.0 / 30.0 kg/m²) from the WHO and CDC.

Frequently asked questions

How is a BMI weight chart calculated?
Each cell is the weight where a given height crosses a BMI threshold, using the same formula as the BMI calculator: weight (lb) = BMI × height (in)² × 0.0254² ÷ 0.453592. For example, at 5'8" (68 in), a BMI of 18.5 works out to about 122 lb.
What weight is 'normal' for my height?
It depends on height — taller heights have higher normal-weight ranges because weight scales with height squared. At 5'8", the normal BMI range (18.5–24.9) works out to about 122–163 lb; find your own row in the table above.
Why does this chart only use whole heights like 5'8" or 5'10"?
The table steps in 2-inch increments to keep it a reasonable size. For an exact figure at any height and weight, use the BMI calculator, which computes the same formula for the precise numbers you enter.
Does this chart account for muscle mass, age, or sex?
No — like BMI itself, this chart is a screening estimate based only on height and weight. It doesn't distinguish muscle from fat, so muscular people may show as 'overweight' by this chart despite having low body fat. It's a starting point, not a diagnosis.
